Setting up Apple TV

  1. On the Apple TV, install Transmitter TV from the App Store.
  2. On the sending Mac, open Transmitter. Note its connect code (like harbor-slate-29) and set a password (click New for a strong one). A password is required, because the stream is encrypted with it.
  3. Choose the audio source and a Video source (not "Receiver uses local file", as the Apple TV has no local pictures), then start sending.
  4. On the Apple TV, type the connect code and password, choose how the channels are laid out under Speakers, and select Connect.

The picture fills the screen. Press Select or Play/Pause to show or hide the status, Up/Down to change the buffer, and Menu (Back) to disconnect.

Show or hide the status overlay.

Up / Down

Increase or decrease the buffer. 500 ms is a good starting point on Wi-Fi.

Menu (Back)

Disconnect and return to the connection screen.
